I am a 72-year-old yoga instructor that has studied and adapted my yoga practice and teaching to address pain for an aging population. Having long suffered from arthritis, I understand what it is like to live with injures and constant discomfort. Through lifestyle changes and mindful yoga, I no longer suffer as I did 20 years ago. In 1999, Nora Maskey led me from beginner Iyengar yoga through to the completion of my teacher training. Suzi Hately brought me to a better understanding of the body and the care of injures through her school of therapeutic yoga. A background in social work and later teaching at the University of Alberta tuned my teaching skills.
The criteria for attending my yoga class is the ability to walk one kilometer. Flexibility is not a prerequisite, it will be the result of learning to move your body through mindful yoga.
