Laura retired from her career with the federal government in 2009, during which time she held a number of different roles including team lead, senior policy analyst, and negotiations advisor. She has also worked as an environmental consultant and biologist, accumulating over twenty years of experience in conflict resolution, indigenous relations, capacity-building, community consultation, and environmental assessment.
In 2010, Laura became a certified Hatha Yoga instructor (200 hour) and in 2018, she became a Level 3 iRest® Yoga Nidra Teacher. She is committed to continually upgrading her skills and knowledge base, adding certification in teaching trauma-informed yoga along the way. Laura’s yoga classes welcome all bodies, all levels of experience, and all abilities.
Having faced significant health challenges in her own life, Laura knows from firsthand experiences that to heal the body you must also heal the mind and spirit. Yoga and meditation are two of the healing modalities she relied on during her own healing journey, and she brings this experience to bear in her teaching.
Laura has been coming to the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga for over fifteen years, and is both excited and humbled to be able to give back to the community that has given her so much over the years.
