Ranju Raman

Yoga Asana Teacher

Ranju Raman is a yoga teacher, environmental educator, and former communications and marketing consultant whose work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change begins within.

Born and raised in India, Ranju moved to Canada to study Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo. She spent several years working in environmental sustainability and international development, including consulting with the United Nations, and was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 25 Under 25 Environmentalists by the Minister of Environment. During a period of burnout that led to hospitalization, she realized that while she was trying to help heal a planet on fire, she had forgotten to care for her own inner world. That experience became the beginning of her yoga journey.

Today, Ranju has dedicated her life to the study and teaching of yoga. She has completed over 1,200 hours of formal teacher training, including 1,000 hours with Aryamarga Yoga Institute in Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Yoga Psychology, and Somatics (2025), a 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in Mysore (2021), and an intensive 30-day Vipassana meditation retreat under Bhante Yuttadhammo Bhikkhu. As a student connected to a traditional yogic lineage, she continues to deepen her practice through ongoing study and dedicated personal practice.

Over the past year, Ranju has taught hundreds of students through weekly classes and residential retreats and is a regular teacher on the Yoga & Wellness Retreats at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga. Her classes integrate mindful movement, breathwork, meditation, and yoga philosophy, offering a grounded and welcoming space for students of all backgrounds.

Her long-term vision is to make trauma-informed healthcare more accessible for women and children, help people reconnect with themselves through yoga, and spend as much time as possible learning from forests, mountains, and the natural world.
