A Self-Guided Yoga & Rest Retreat in British Columbia

A Personal Retreat at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga is a self-guided yoga and rest retreat in British Columbia, designed for those seeking deep rest, clarity, and reconnection.

Located on 69 acres of forest, gardens, and walking trails, the Centre offers a rare opportunity to step away from the pace of daily life and enter a slower, more intentional rhythm. My friend and I came for a 4 day retreat and we LOVED our time and experience at the Centre. The people were lovely, the food was amazing and the accommodations were clean and quaint. Everything that you would hope for in a weekend of peace and calm. The classes were tailored to the participants in attendance and were taught by wonderful teachers. I would highly recommend the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga if someone is considering a yoga retreat.

I just finished the July yoga and wellness retreat and feel renewed! This is such peaceful land with lots of community love and knowledge. I really loved the variety of breath and meditation practices offered, I learned so much!

The vegan food is AMAZING, a lot of it comes fresh from the garden and there's a great variety of dishes. I felt nourished after every meal and there are snacks, tea, and instant coffee available at all times.

The Centre practices ashtanga and hatha yoga so if you are looking for lively vinyasa this is not the place. However, all the classes were very accessible for all levels and I feel like I better understand the connection between pranayama, asana, and their connections to Hindu culture and spirituality.

My wife and I spent a wonderful few days at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga in late June 2026. While neither of us are regular yoga practitioners, weโ€™ve both explored it enough to know the value of taking time to reconnect with ourselves. The retreat was exactly the nourishing break we were looking forโ€”peaceful, welcoming, and deeply rejuvenating for both mind and spirit.
We thoroughly enjoyed the warm community, beautiful gardens, delicious and wholesome meals, as well as the meditation and yoga sessions. The atmosphere encouraged relaxation, reflection, and connection in a truly special setting.
We left feeling refreshed, grounded, and grateful for the experience. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga to anyone seeking a restorative retreat.

The Salt Spring Yoga Centre is a truly special place for anyone seeking a break from the demands of everyday life and an opportunity to reconnect with themselves. From the moment I arrive, I can feel the peaceful, loving energy that fills the property. Everyone, from the management team and coordinators to the kitchen staff and instructors, is exceptionally welcoming, supportive, and caring. The communication is always thoughtful, and respectful, making every interaction positive.

I've visited the Centre three timesโ€”twice to facilitate retreats and once for my own personal retreatโ€”and every experience has been meaningful and memorable. I always leave feeling nourished, inspired, and grateful. Highly recommended.

Don't think - you can do that later - Just go to the yoga centre. I went for a personal retreat and couldn't be happier. If you're at a crossroads in your life and have some big decisions to make - wait - go to the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga first, and then make those decisions - you will never regret it. Clean rooms, stunning property with acres of walking trails, great classes, delicious food, and, of course, the people are simply the best. I will be back again and again and again.

I just enjoyed a 3-day retreat in late November, 2025. It was a phenomenal experience for the body, soul and mind. It is my fourth visit to the centre. The food is amazing, and the staff and teachers are very supportive. I have some mobility issues, but attend regardless because they make it possible. I highly recommend this retreat centre for all sorts of reasons: the landscape, yoga, food, and the general warmth of the yoga community.

A place of peace and joyful cooperation!
I recently had the pleasure of spending two nights at Salt Spring Centre for Yoga, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I felt warmly welcomed into a beautiful, nurturing community. I was there to offer a sound bath meditation and to experience the incredible energy of the space. Every part of my stay was infused with care, from the delicious food to the soulful yoga offerings.

The retreat centre truly radiates a sense of peace and connection to nature, making it a perfect sanctuary for rest and renewal. I left feeling deeply rested, inspired, and excited to return. Thank you to everyone at Salt Spring Centre for Yoga for creating such a heartfelt, loving space. We will definitely be back!

A personal retreat at the Salt Spring Centre is a magical step away from a busy life. I echo all the glowing comments in the other 5-star reviews. In addition, I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a writing retreat. I came here thinking that all I needed to get past my writerโ€™s block was uninterrupted time to write. But it turned out that first I had to slow down. The community here gently showed me that it was OK to go at my own pace. Between yoga classes, walks along the lovely trails, healthy meals prepared by the karma yogis, and time spent reading and reflecting, I began to relax. By the third day, I had begun to write again, after having been stuck for months. Thank you to Anuradha and all the members of the community.

Had a wonderful visit to the Salt Spring Centre in early October! The staff are incredible, the food is delicious, the facilities are cozy, and the studios are phenomenal places to practice. I highly recommend the Centre for both individual and group retreats! Just passing by? Itโ€™s worth a stop just for the farm stand treats!

The people who keep the heartbeat of the yoga centre alive are the most inspiring, devoted, and passionate Stewards of Peace. This place is a way of life devoted to peace. I return for the deep learning I experience each time Iโ€™m held in this space. Om peace.

I attended a beautiful Bhakti Yoga retreat at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, offered by the Vedic Priestess Temple and focused on the Goddess Durga. As a Salt Spring Island resident, it was such a gift to experience such a rich and heart-centered offering right here at home. The teachings, rooted in authentic lineage, were deeply inspiring, the food was absolutely incredible, and the land itself felt deeply restorative. Iโ€™m so grateful for this experience and the care that went into every detail.

Iโ€™ve been volunteering at Salt Spring Centre of Yoga this Fall. It is my second time here, and I absolutely love it. Yoga, Nature & Community interweave in extraordinary ways, in full support of my journey as a human being. The people are amazing, the food is delicious and the teachings of Yoga, are rooted in Classical Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali as taught by Baba Hari Dass (1923-2018) - a yogi and silent monk from northern India and the inspiration behind SSCY. His teachings permeate every aspect of this sacred place and is shared open-heartedly with anyone who comes here seeking inner peace. Additionally, beautiful retreats are held annually with spectacular facilitators. I highly recommend Salt Spring Yoga Center! This centre is the hidden jewel of BC, Canada. 💎

Iโ€™m so grateful the Salt Spring Centre exists! Whether I stay for a night, a weekend, or a month, I always leave feeling better than when I arrived (more calm, connected, centered, inspired, nurtured, healed). The place, the people, the food, the wellness treatments, the gardens & natural land, and of course the yoga & meditation classes all contribute to the magic of the experience.
Words donโ€™t do it justice!
Highly, highly recommend!
And if youโ€™re looking for a Yoga Teacher Training program, do yourself a favour: this one is top notch & life-changing in the best way ๐Ÿ™‚

Bonus Pro Tip: Plunge in Blackburn Lake (clothing optional) to augment the body-mind-soul rejuvenation (I took a mid-October swim on my way to check-in & it was glorious! Refreshing & revitalizing).
