Community Weaver and Events Coordination
Daniela Gunn-Doerge (she/ki*)
Community Weaver and Events Coordination
Quick Background: Although Daniela’s academic background is in social justice and conflict resolution, it wasn’t until she began working with Vancouver’s Association of Neighbourhood Houses that she found her passion for community building and facilitation. Creating meaningful systemic change, she discovered, begins on an individual, relational, and community level. Since taking her yoga teacher training in 2022, and Somatic Educator training in 2024, she has been drawn to creating experiences where personal and therefore systemic transformation is possible. Her meditative electronic band, Days of Lavender, has been offering Ambient Yoga and sound journeys for the last 4 years in and around Vancouver. Since dedicating herself to the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga community and farm in spring 2024, Daniela has also hosted two InnerSpace Retreats with Days of Lavender, which weave together music, yoga, community connection, and love for the land. She continues to deepen her spiritual practice through singing Kirtan, farming, performing her electronic music, and bringing her joy to the community and work she does.
Top 3 out of work interests: lifting people up and creating a foundation for community to grow; listening to, performing, dancing to music; backcountry and canoe camping!
Favourite thing about the Centre: It provides a place for so many of us to learn, create, grow, connect to self, and find deep purpose! Jai Babaji for this opportunity of a lifetime.
*The Anishinaabe word for beings of the living Earth is Bemaadiziiaaki. Inspired by the grammar of animacy and with full recognition of its Anishinaabe roots, might we hear the new pronoun at the end of Bemaadiziiaaki, nestled in the part of the word that means land? “Ki” to signify a being of the living Earth. Not “he” or “she,” but “ki.” – Robin Wall Kimmerer
