Girija, has made Ayurveda and yoga foundational to her spiritual life since childhood. In 1971,having become a student of Baba Hari Das, she sought to bring his vision, values, and spirit of humanity to her Saltspring Island community. She has been a passionate and committed member of the Dharmas Sara Satsang community since its inception in 1974.

Girija holds diplomas in herbal medicine and Ayurveda, and has completed certified yoga teacher training in both the Sri Sivananda (1973) and Mount Madonna centers (1985).

A lifelong healer, she has also practiced Ayurvedic massage therapy for 23 years and worked for 12 years as a Paramedic for BC Ambulance Service.
As a Marine Engineer since 1998, she was elected Local President of the Ships’ Officers of BCFerries Marine Workers Union, serving for seven years. With extensive training from the Canadian Labour Relations Board and BC Justice Institute , including certificates in hassement in the workplace, sexual harassment, conflict resolution, and labour-management conflict resolution, she has a wealth of experience helping to foster healthy and inclusive organizations.

She lives on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, Ian, an accomplished artist, and is proud to be active in her local natural healing, wellness, and fitness communities. Her pride and joy are her four children who as children all received Babaji’s grace.
