Event Details

The Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) Intro Workshop is a professional training designed for yoga teachers, mental health care professionals, health care providers, body and breath workers, dance facilitators, educators, and those who are interested in growing their understanding of complexities of systemic and interpersonal trauma, the body-mind connection through exploring the impacts on one’s nervous system and physiology, and how a trauma sensitive movement and breath practice could support healing.

This is an introductory workshop, providing participants with initial concepts to apply a trauma informed lens, supporting a brave space for those you serve.  This workshop is a great lead into the 20-hr Online TCTSY Foundational Training taking place April 4-6, 2025 if you want to keep learning, which is a pre-requisite for the 300-hr Certification.

* Note:

– You DO NOT need to be a certified yoga instructor to attend.
– No yoga experience necessary
– This training is accessible for all bodies and expressions.

Workshop Details:

This anti-oppressive approach to healing supports recovery from individual and collective long-term trauma with considerations of language, movement, present moment experiences, and choice.

This introduction provides an overview of how systemic oppression and interpersonal trauma perpetuate harm, impacting one’s brain, body and relationships. Within this workshop, participants will experience embodiment practices, presentation of content, small and large group discussions, practical concepts to begin integrating a trauma informed lens within your setting.

This modality facilitates peace building from within for those engaging with the practice and supports practitioners to apply a trauma informed lens into diverse contexts.  Start to develop your understanding of the role power and oppression play within complex trauma, attachment theory, and the neuroscience underpinning the TCTSY methodology.

TCTSY is an evidence-based clinical treatment for Complex-PTSD, Complex Trauma and Developmental Trauma grounded in the western medical model with robust research demonstrating successful outcomes.  This workshop provides an introduction to primary concepts that foster a trauma informed lens.
