In this class, students will have a chance to explore jñāna-yoga, or the yoga of wisdom. This yoga primarily takes the form of self-inquiry, or ātma-vichāra. Students will get an overview of this practice from readings and examples from the Bhagavad-Gītā and the writings of Bābā Hari Dāss, Ramana Maharshi, and other teachers, as well as the practice of “neti, neti.” After this, students will be taken on a guided exploration of the tattvas, or ontological principles, of classical Sāṅkhya, using it as a framework to inquire into their own direct experience of being conscious.
