A Restorative Retreat for Front-Line Workers

Front line workers and public safety personnel are routinely exposed to traumatic events and/or secondary trauma that may leave them vulnerable to occupational stress injury and burnout. This retreat introduces gentle, all levels, trauma-informed yoga and breathing techniques to restore the mind/body connection and to cultivate body-based resources to support long term resilience and emotional regulation.  Rooted in trauma theory, modern postural yoga and neuroscience, trauma informed yoga offers practical techniques that can be utilized to enhance well-being on and off the job. Set in the serene beauty of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, participants will have the space to decompress and reflect in nature. We will also practice & explore:

  • How trauma and stress impact the body, brain and autonomic nervous system
  • Trauma-informed yoga practices and breathing techniques
  • Self-care and communication strategies
